Description

Bison & Beyond: Exploring Colorado’s Wild History

8:00 AM - Meet-up at River Park, Breckenridge.

Morning:

  • Hike at Roxborough State Park: Explore trails while learning about local wildlife, plants, and ecosystems
  • Bison Viewing at Daniels Park: Observe bison in their natural habitat and learn about wildlife conservation and the role of bison in the prairie ecosystem.

Midday:

  • Lunch: Picnic break at Daniel's Park.

Afternoon:

  • History Colorado Center: Explore Colorado’s history through interactive exhibits about Native American tribes, the Gold Rush, and early settlers.

Optional Stop:

  • Buffalo Bill’s Grave & Museum: On the return trip, we can stop at Buffalo Bill Cody’s final resting place to learn about his Wild West legacy and explore exhibits about his life and impact on American culture.

5:30 PM - Return to River Park for pick-up.

A day full of hiking, history, and wildlife.

Looking for an exciting weekend escape for your kids? Our Weekend Warrior program is here to bring the fun! Offered 1-2 times a month, each adventure takes kids on a field trip to some of Colorado’s most exciting spots—water parks, baseball games, museums, seasonal outdoor activities, and more! Perfect for families with parents working outside the typical Monday–Friday schedule or those who want to let us handle the weekend fun. We meet at a local park, then head out for a full day of exploration, fun, and making memories. Let us take care of the adventure, while you enjoy some well-deserved downtime!
